Magswitch D120 pneumatic magnetic gripper for thin sheets
Magswitch D120 pneumatic magnetic gripper for thin sheets
Article number: 81401457
The D120 is a pneumatically actuated magnetic gripper with an ultra-flat magnetic field and multi-array technology , specifically designed for handling thin sheets (< 2.0 mm) . The D120 excels where conventional magnets, EPM (Electric Permanent Magnetic) grippers, and suction cups cannot generate sufficient holding force .
This innovative end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) for industrial robots is ideally suited for numerous automated manufacturing processes , including:
- Press loading and unloading
- Unstacking parts
- Machine feeding
- Pick and Place
- Robotic order picking
- Ergonomic handling support
The D120 surpasses other automation solutions thanks to standardized sensor options, NAAMS mounting, fail-safe operation, and the highest holding force per mm² on thin sheet metal currently available on the market.
Features
The D120 magnetic gripper with ultra-flat magnetic field and advanced NAAMS mounting interfaces increases productivity and clearly distinguishes itself from alternative technologies through:
- Industry-leading holding power per square centimeter (3× stronger than the next best competitor)
- Ultra-flat magnetic field technology
- Flexible mounting options
- Very fast switching times under 300 ms (faster than EPM)
- Fail-safe operation – parts do not fall off in the event of a power failure.
- Available tool ON/OFF sensors
- Extensive standard accessories, including compensation modules
- No energy consumption in ON or OFF mode
- Operation possible at 100% duty cycle
Competitive advantages
- Significantly improved holding power per square centimeter
- Maximum holding power in a compact design
- Industry-leading destacking performance – the ultra-flat magnetic field technology enables the lifting of a single 2.0 mm thick sheet from a stack
- Fewer tools are required to move a part.
- Simplified construction of end effectors
- Magswitch is a world-leading provider of magnetic one-sided gripping technologies.

Industrial automation applications
automotive industry
In addition to classic applications such as robot-assisted handling of hoods, roofs, floor panels, door panels, dashboard panels and roof brackets, the D120 is today the No. 1 magnetic gripper for the automated high-volume production of EV battery trays (electric vehicles).
Magswitch enables safe and reliable handling processes, reduces the risk of accidents and ensures precise positioning during assembly.
Stamping applications
Loading and unloading circuit boards and transferring stamped parts requires precise and safe handling. The Magswitch-D series offers a reliable solution for this, increasing productivity and minimizing downtime.
White goods manufacturing
Handling large household appliance housings (washing machines, dishwashers, tumble dryers) requires robust and secure gripping technology. Magswitch offers a reliable solution for safely gripping and moving these bulky components while simultaneously supporting efficient production processes.
Consumer goods production
From grills and smokers to lawnmowers and leaf blowers – consumer goods consist of numerous components that must be handled precisely during automated assembly. The Magswitch-D series enables stable, repeatable processes, resulting in higher product quality and robust manufacturing.
Unleash maximum performance in robot automation with the powerful Magswitch D120 pneumatic magnetic gripper – the optimal solution for all automated pick-and-place processes.
