*Note on tear-off force
The maximum pull-off force was determined in the laboratory on 2" (5.08 cm) thick SAE1018 steel with a 63-microinch surface roughness. Many factors influence the actual pull-off force in practical use. Each tool must be tested in its specific application beforehand.
SWL – Maximum Workload
SWL (Safe Working Load) = Maximum force⁵ / Safety factor (≥ 5)
(The safe working load is always significantly lower than the breakaway force.)
Footnotes
- Determined under laboratory conditions on 2"-SAE1018 steel with 63 microinch roughness and optimized pole shoes.
- All data refers to a unit with flat pole shoes .
- Made with SAE1018 steel (200 × 200 mm).
- Values may vary by ±5%.
- The stated maximum forces are not safe lifting forces. Magswitch recommends a safety margin of SWL = 5:1 in most applications.
